Modernizing IT for Retail Networks
Citrix infrastructures x IGEL Software x UltrArmor UA3
💬 Customer Insight
“Citrix infrastructures with IGEL thin clients are an excellent basis for decentralized companies. Provided that they are set up professionally“, says Ralf Theilsiefje.
Ralf Theilsiefje is the managing director of RTS Right Tec Solution, a solution provider specializing in Citrix and Azure based in Westerstede in Lower Saxony. He notices that many customers are still working with makeshift/DIY solutions, outdated software and an IT-environment that is neither high performing nor secure.
“Citrix is very powerful, but also very complex. There’s a lot you can do wrong“, says Ralf Theilsiefje.
🏢 About the Partner
Founded in 2018 in Westerstede by IT specialist Ralf Theilsiefje, the system house RTS Right Tec Solution supports medium-sized and large companies in the conceptual design, development and secure operation of their IT landscapes. As a Citrix Fusion Resell and Citrix Fusion Service Provider, the company specializes in distributed infrastructures, modern work and server-based computing.
⚠️ The Challenge
Modernization of the IT landscape and rebuilding the Citrix infrastructure of a fast-growing commercial enterprise operating throughout Germany. Connecting and re-equipping the headquarters as well as numerous small subsidiaries without in-house IT.
🎯 The Objective
Significantly improve performance and security, and also simplify the rollout and commissioning of new devices for subsidiaries.
📊 Project Overview
- 2.000 IT-workstations at 65 locations
- 1.050 UltrArmor UA3 ThinClients
- 1.500 IGEL licences
🚀 Solution & Implementation
This is particularly important when a company changes the IT management and the new people in charge want to move fast-forward.
One example is the new IT manager of a trading company in Lower Saxony with almost 2,000 employees, branch offices across Germany and a strategy of growing quickly through acquisitions.
The company had been working with IGEL and Citrix, but the installation was quite outdated, and long waiting times put a huge strain on the employees’ satisfaction. So, the new IT manager turned to RTS for help.
“A Citrix infrastructure with IGEL-based thin clients is the right IT solution for this company,” confirmed Ralf Theilsiefje.
So, he and his team began modernizing and rebuilding the entire infrastructure. The old IGEL units were replaced step by step, and new branch offices are immediately equipped with new UltrArmor-brand UA3 units running the latest secure IGEL operating system.
🤝 A Trusted Hardware Partner
For its thin clients, RTS now relies on UltrArmor devices from the Taiwanese manufacturer Clientron, a recommendation by the IGEL VAD Vanquish. The Oldenburg-based company is Clientron‘s exclusive distributor in Germany.
This simplifies the entire handling process for RTS:
“From project prices to logistics and RMA, we have a single point of contact”, reports Ralf Theilsiefje.
“As Vanquish is in a partnership with both IGEL and UltrArmor, this works very well. Getting the hardware and software for the thin client solution from a single source makes a lot of sense and is important for us. After all, hardware is not our core business.”
In addition, Clientron offers a wide range of products, the best quality and a five-year warranty.
🔄 IGEL Successor Strategy
After IGEL withdrew from the hardware business, Vanquish was looking for an alternative supplier.
“What we offer to our partners are solutions away from the mainstream, with which they can differentiate themselves,” says Henning Jasper, Managing Director of VAD Vanquish.
The UltrArmor thin clients have been thoroughly tested by his team, with different operating systems and for various application scenarios.
